Cody VanderKaay’s oeuvre encompasses a network of interests concerning architecture, assemblage, modularity, mass-production, repetition, and utilitarianism. He examines the paradoxes presented by the properties of dense and delicate materials and blends strictures of ritual and metaphysics under the celestial umbrella of Zen-inflected craftsmanship. Each work quietly purveys the results of his mantric-like practice of personal mysticism, grounded in the terrestrial.
